Earlier in the year I was approached by Sarah Simpson from Beauty Simply to see if I was interested in doing a collaborative photo shoot with her. Anyone that knows me, knows that I just love local business and endeavour to help out wherever I can, as it also helps me !
Collaboration is a very big part of my Wedding business, that is working with other Wedding suppliers, to play, have fun and experiment to the benefit of all involved. It was decided that Autumn would be a great time for us to have a day together with some models and have some fun !
Sarah organised the wonderful Rothay Manor at Ambleside, her sister Katie Simpson who is an amazing hairdresser from Shelley Knowles salon in Kendal and our models for the day Penny and Rachel, Rachel also happens to be my girlfriend so we had very clear ideas of the looks we wanted to capture, Rachel was lucky enough to have a practice with Sarah and Katie and Rachel used to work together so all good !
I must say a massive thanks to Ben Barden, a good friend and fellow photographer for lending me some of his new lighting kit to have a play with – I am in love with the amazing Elinchrom Ranger kit, very special piece of equipment !
So, off we went, kit all packed and Rachel with what seemed like a full wardrobe and more to the Rothay Manor, we were warmly greeted by Ann Marie from the Rothay and shown to where Penny was already getting her hair done, fantastic !
A flurry of activity and while the girls were getting their hair and make up done I had a little wander around the grounds to sort out where we would be shooting. As it was such a nice day with gorgeous colours on the trees we decided it would be rude not to use the grounds.
We had decided to do two looks for each model , one natural, more Wedding make-up and build up to a dramatic, evening make up. I think we pulled it off, had a great laugh and all came away with some lovely images. I will point out that Rachel and Penny are not professional models and very, very kindly helped us out. Regular viewers of this blog will have seen Rachel before though as she is obviously my favourite subject ( I have to say that ) !
We had a great time and Ann-Marie even took our picture that now appears on their Facebook page, we are all really chuffed and will hopefully be able to shoot agin at the Rothay Manor – well it was Sunday and the food smelt bloody amazing, so Rachel and I will be back for lunch at some point, for sure.
Massive thanks to the Rothay Manor, great venue, great coffee and some rather nice snacks for us – so nice to be welcomed. Well done to our models Penny and Rachel and of course Katie Simpson and Sarah from Beauty Simply, a great day out had by all.
