Max and the Dandelion

Sometimes all the planning in the world won’t “make moments happen” as part of my business I often take commissions to photograph children and when photographing children one has to be pro-active rather than re-active, this is achieved by having eyes in the back of ones head 🙂

Max is the son of a Bride and Groom who were getting married in the Lake District and had booked me for their wedding photography. He joined us with his brother and sister for the pre-wedding or engagement shoot. I am always happy for a couple to bring along the children and perhaps the dog to a pre-wedding or engagement shoot.

While Mum and Dad were positioned where I wanted them Max had picked up the dandelion and within moments the shot was gone. Its at times like this when using a manual exposure you need fast fingers, Mum and Dad were behind me so in totally different light, needing vastly different settings. What a wonderful little chap!

I adore using our surroundings as my studio, no nasty, clinical white backgrounds here, just nature at its best and on this day it was the gorgeous dappled light in South Cumbria near Kendal, just south of the English Lake District. Kendal is known as the ‘Gateway to the Lakes’ and sometimes the ‘Auld Grey Town’ certainly not grey on this day.

It really is great to be around such lovely people – pretty lucky to be able to call it ‘work’ really!

If you would like to book your children in for a photo-shoot or perhaps you are looking for a wedding photographer then please do not hesitate to get in touch, you can also ‘Like’ Ian Wood Photography on Facebook.
