I think the last time I was at a trackday I was a rider – not this time though, I was just along for the ride and to support some friends who had never done a trackday before. Oulton Park is a motor racing circuit in Cheshire and for this day it was comendeered by J&L Motorcycles from Carlisle who had blocked booked space on a Hottrax trackday for their customers.
Ex-Worldsuperbike rider and marketing guru Dean Ellison from J&L Motorcycles and some of the guys from J&L were also going to be instructing riders from the J&L bookings, I travelled down with friends Ben and Neil and their little Honda NC30’s and met up with others whom we know from Kendal and the wider web of social media.
It was great to meet Dave Winter, who along with Ben Barden and Dean Ellison will be tackling John O’Groats to Land End (JOG2LE1DAY) in one day, on motorcycles later this year in aid of Riders for Health and CJ Riders fund.
Obviously I took some camera kit, I enjoy the challenge of photographing ‘fast things’ and motorcycles on a track, in dodgy weather offer a good challenge, as the light was changing so fast, its perfect practice for the challenging conditions that often present themselves at Weddings.
Its great to have days out like this, it just proves to me that I chose the right path, I love all things motorcycle, I don’t miss riding them though – a great day had by all, I think the boys will be back soon !
