Cumbria does have its own riviera – Grange. Grange-over-Sands is a Victorian holiday destination on the edge of the English Lake District in South Lakeland, Cumbria. It was the Grange Hotel that Mick and Leanne first visited when they were looking for their Lake District Wedding Venue.
As publicans themselves they were very impressed with the venue and booked it straight away, shortly after I got the call and Leanne and Mick booked Ian Wood Photography to photograph their Wedding.
All ran smoothly on the run up to the Wedding, our couple even had a new arrival between booking me and the Wedding day, she is ever so cute and called Maise, a lovely sister for Ellie.
On the morning of the Wedding I awoke to bright sunshine – it was sure going to be a nice day for a White wedding. I arrived at the Grange Hotel, introduced myself to the hotel staff and was shown to the suite where the bridal party were starting the preperation for the hair and make up, lots of girls to beautify and Gail the hairdresser was already hard at work with the rollers, pins and hairspray.
Sarah Simpson from Beauty Simply arrived and we were in full swing for all the hair and make up, its always really good fun on the morning of a Wedding and this wedding was no different, lots of laughs, lots of nerves and only a minor issue with a hot iron and outfit – eeeek! Luckily I am always prepared for most eventualities so with a bit of ingenuity the issue was soon resolved (Gaffa tape and safety pins).
I went downstairs to photograph the arrival of the Groom’s party and work out where the sun would be during the photographs, it was such a bright day that the suns position would dictate where we would be taking the requested photos, it was never going to be an issue as the Grange Hotel has lovely grounds and plenty of places to use for great images.
It was soon time for the ceremony and having said hello to the registrars we were all ready and awaiting our Brides arrival, she looked lovely and as always the look on the Groom’s face was one of Love, Adoration and relief!
A lovely service by our local registrars and then out onto the lawn for the Bucks Fizz reception, truly a gorgeous day for a Wedding.
As predicted I knew where the light would be best and I whisked our Bride and Groom away for some portraits alone, a time for them to be on their own for a few moments as newly weds, I then started to gather the requested people for more formal groupshots, taking minimal time away from the reception and involving as many guests that wanted to be there, lots of fun and laughs, minimal fuss – after all, it was party time!
We did attempt a family image, with 4 generations of Leanne’s family – we lacked a little co-operation but I think this makes a gorgeous image and one that all involved will remember for many years to come, little tinker (5th image down)
A wonderful meal followed and the staff were superb, everything went to plan as expected and before we knew it the DJ was setting up for the evening reception.
Smiles, fun laughter, dancing, happy tears – a bloody good day.
Leanne and Mick, all the best for your married life together, great couple, great kids, wonderful families and it was a honour to be part of your special day.
