At the beginning of the year I photographed a charity event in aid of Cancer Care and organised by Daniel Gray hairdressing in Kendal. I had also donated an auction prize in the shape of a Photo session with Ian Wood Photography. This event was held at the Castle Green Hotel and was a roaring success.
It was the first time I had actually been to a charity night and was both nervous and excited when my ‘lot’ came up, a few hands went up as did the bids and I was actually quite overcome as the bids continued to rise – for me, these people were bidding to get me to photograph them – a really quite humbling experience.
I was won, Ian Wood Photography’s session had sold for a significant amount of money but it was close, very close, right up to the final, winning bid – bang and the hammer went down. I looked around and saw the disappointment on the second bidders face.
I made a decision.
I approached Donna and offered her a deal, if she would honour her bid to the organisers and Cancer Care, I would offer another session. So, everyone happy and more money for the charity – you know what, it felt good, really good and I went home a very happy man.
So fast forward a few months and we had set a date for the shoot, it was to be for the kids and what great little folk they are, a really warm welcome and it turns out I had met Luke before, with his Dad at a British Superbike round at Donington Park, happy days.
Camera out and these little guys just lapped it up – we laughed, alot, and had so much fun, you see that is what its all about, FUN, a Childrens shoot is all about FUN, letting them do what they want to do – capturing the innocence of childhood. Fun and laughter had by all – love it !
Oh, they may have had some Haribo as well, I did, Kids and Adults love them so and all that ! 😉
